Make It So : Happy 50th Anniversary Star Trek

Star Trek 50thAnniversary The Captains by Jason A. Das

I was stumped to figure out my next illustration to do. My friend Holly and the Pal Gals, suggested I do something Star Trek related. Since this year being the 50th anniversary of the series. I remember the old TV series vaguely with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. I really started to like the Star Trek series when I saw the movie, The Wrath of Khan.

The first actual TV series I followed was Star Trek : The Next Generation. At the time I use to watch Reading Rainbow with LeVar Burton. He did an entire episode on the making of The Next Generation. That’s what lead me to watching TNG.

Deep Space Nine was an interesting take on the Star Trek universe. However I never really got into it, and my interest swayed in and out of the series. I want to re-explore it now that it’s available on Netflix.

I never really watched Voyager or Enterprise, but I knew about them. Going to FanExpo in Toronto, you can see some really dedicated Trekkies who are so dedicated to the cosplay and fandom of each series.

That’s what I wanted to do with this illustration. To focus on on the captains that were featured in the tv series. Terms of the composition I wanted to arc it in the form of the Starfleet insignia. In the bottom of the archway, I wanted the USS Enterprise to speed by. The background rainbow is throwback touch to the original Star Trek: The Motion Picture movie poster. I also added a nice teleportation effect behind the captains. I hope you all like this piece.  Live long, and prosper.
