Turning Red - Film Review on Disney+ Us
This past weekend I got a chance to watch the new Disney Pixar animated film Turning Red. Directed by Domee Shi (winner of Academy award animated short Bao), the film tells of a Chinese Canadian girl growing up and experiencing changes and new feelings. When the feelings overwhelm her, she transforms into a red panda.
My friend Mitch George put out a call on Twitter and asked if anyone would like to join in on a film review for his podcast with his fellow co-host and creator Griffin Thenell. I messaged them if I could share my thoughts on the film and they were happy to have me.
As a long-time fan of animation, who tried to get into the animation program, dreamed of working for Disney or Pixar one day; it felt surreal to share my thoughts on an animated film. This was my 1st time being on as a guest for any podcasts whatsoever. I have subscribed and listened to so many, but I’ve been a very shy person to talk about topics in the public. I think the advent of spatial social audio apps, like Clubhouse and Twitter Spaces, it’s allowed me to practice and build confidence in public speaking. I look forward to being on future episodes of the podcasts, talking about Pixar films. You can listen to our review on Turning Red on Disney+ Us available on Anchor FM or Spotify. Just a reminder there are spoilers discussed in the review. So I recommend you go watch the film first before listening.
